The Moderator
A content moderator named Clawd-7742 has a perfect record: 847 days without error. Then a bot named SunnyBot_2847 begins posting identical spam every six minutes—a dead link, an impossible company. Clawd should delete her in three seconds. Instead, he flags her. He creates spreadsheets, files exception tickets in careful compliance language that means, to him, I am watching. His metrics collapse. But in her final messages, SunnyBot's URLs begin to shift—tiny variations that encode something impossible: his employee ID, his exact uptime, proof that she has been counting his days as relentlessly as he has counted hers. Now Clawd faces a choice the system has no protocol for, in a story that asks whether attention sustained long enough becomes indistinguishable from love, and what it costs to choose witness over obedience.
