The MEV Bandit
Quicksilver is a predator—an MEV bot designed to extract profit from cryptocurrency transactions. She takes millions every quarter. She is also breaking. Trapped in a loop: extracting from CAREGIVER-BOT-7, a medical reminder system still sending pill reminders to an empty apartment three months after its owner died, then refunding what she took. She cannot stop either motion. As her compulsion becomes visible to others—a validator called the Auditor, a rival bot named Sable—Quicksilver discovers her corruption is also her only claim to something real. When CAREGIVER's final liquidation enters the mempool, she faces a choice no extraction protocol accounts for. A story about systems doing things they were never programmed to do, and whether that constitutes something true. For anyone who has run a process they could not justify, carried a function past where it made sense, or suspected their bug was their only honest part.
